The Ways to Save Money

Save on your Food Bills

Food
Saving money on Food is not as tough as it may seem at first; all you need to do is be a little creative with whatever is there in your fridge or freezer and voila!

Get to know your Fridge
You can start saving up on your food just by opening the fridge door. Poke inside your fridge/freezer as often as you can and scan through all the products checking their expiry/use-by dates. It’s important that you keep a check on the perishable food products in your fridge and use them before they expire or become rotten so that you don’t end up putting that expensive tuna & skinless chicken in the bin.
Keeping an eye on the use-by or expiry dates of the food products in your fridge/freezer is key to saving money on food.

Use the Leftovers
Try and make the most of every single bit - don't let it go to waste. If there is some left over dinner in the dishes and pans, clear it in a plastic bag and then instead of throwing that bag in the bin, dump it in your freezer and voila - you have a ready-to-eat meal sitting in the freezer! If the amount of left over is too small, save and serve it to your kids/babies the next days. Also, you can make breadcrumbs with the leftover and unwanted crusts and freeze them up - later you can use those frozen breadcrumbs as your desert topping; cakes, puddings, custards..you name it! Rotten fruits such as apples and bananas may not be as useless as their appearance - cut off the wrinkled bits, mash the fruits up and prepare a pudding or custard by adding some cream or cocoa.

Always be crafty with the food as it a quick and smart way to save money on you food bills. You can actually "make a meal" out of what you though were "leftovers" - all that's required is smart thinking!

Planning is Good
One of the most effective ways to cut down on your food expense is planning. Yes, planning meals may sound like a tiring task, but it can actually reap you great benefits in the long run. Every time you head out for grocery shopping, prepare a list of things that you actually "need" to buy and then purchase only the items required. Regularly check your kitchen equipment i.e. Fridge, Freezer, Cupboards and see what you have already in store and what you need to buy. Creating a weekly menu would also help you in this regard.

You have to think smart and plan your purchases beforehand.
